In Wilmington, North Carolina, HAVEN is an integrative care practice. Today, the work spans acupuncture and Chinese medicine, therapeutic massage, and manual lymphatic drainage massage (MLD), centered around the person rather than the modality. The intake is intentional. The treatments are specific. The reasoning is shared with you. People often say afterward that their practitioner knows more about them than anyone else in their life.
HAVEN was built to see the full picture, uncover what is going on, and provide care centered on you.
HAVEN was originally called HAVEN Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine. That name fit when the practice focused on acupuncture and Chinese medicine as its primary form of care. Over time, the practice grew to include Western therapeutic traditions. Therapeutic massage and manual lymphatic drainage joined acupuncture and Chinese medicine as parts of one integrative approach.
The work has always been larger than acupuncture. Working with the whole person. Taking the time to understand what your body is responding to. Building a plan with you, not handing you a directive. Supporting you in advocating for your own health.
HAVEN is the work of Ericca Burke, who founded the practice in 2017. She is a North Carolina licensed acupuncturist, trained at the Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine. Before her career in Chinese medicine, she earned a BS in engineering from Tufts University and an MBA from Northeastern University, and spent over twenty years in senior management roles at IBM.
Chinese medicine reads the body as a connected system: what is showing up here, what may be driving it from somewhere else, how the parts speak to each other. Ericca spent decades using systems thinking in engineering and senior management. The practice is built on her analytical background and problem-solving focus. She loves the mysterious and poetic nature of Chinese medicine blended with logic and reasoning.
Ericca trained directly under Dr. Soliman in the Soliman Auricular Allergy Treatment, and HAVEN is the only certified SAAT provider in southeastern North Carolina. She also holds certifications in auricular therapy and ear seeds, Acutonics, and as a Qigong instructor.
Ericca is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), trained through Duke Integrative Medicine. The coaching brings the same systems thinking into the daily patterns and choices that shape how you feel.
Gillian Ferguson, LMBT is HAVEN's Therapeutic Massage Practitioner, practicing since 2008 and board certified by the National Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. She is also trained in prenatal and postpartum massage. NC LMBT #15704.
Isabella Kavanagh, LMBT is HAVEN's Manual Lymphatic Drainage Practitioner and Massage Therapist, certified in the Vodder method, the foundational training in the field. She serves as an assistant to a master teacher of the Vodder method. NC LMBT #19383.
At HAVEN, our scope of practice grows when the right offering and the right practitioner come together. If your work fits the way we work, we would like to hear from you.
